The CUBE Kathmandu Hybrid SL wins best in test in MYBIKE magazine (04/2021) in a test of tour pedelecs before other brands such as Conway, Giant, Hoheacht, Merida, Radon, Stevens and Victoria.
Verdict:“The Kathmandu Hybrid is not only incredibly comfortable to ride, it’s also packed with well-chosen, high-end equipment. Excellent damping from the front fork and telescopic seatpost and a relaxed riding position add up to a comfort-oriented combination from CUBE that’s virtually guaranteed to keep fatigue to a minimum even on extended tours. A wide range of adjustment options courtesy of the adjustable stem allows riders to easily fine-tune the handlebar height and overall length to their personal preferences. The drivetrain components are in a class of their own – from the 12-speed XT rear mech and Bosch Performance CX drive unit to the high-end Nyon display with navigation and fitness functions, the spec has been selected with maximum attention to detail. The Kathmandu also features a rear aluminium rack in CUBE’s typical square-profile design welded directly to the frame for added strength at the rear and huge load-carrying capability. Even fully laden, the stable rear triangle is barely noticeable when handling the bike through fast turns. Excellent brake modulation rounds out a planted and agile CUBE that ticks all the e-bike boxes. The Kathmandu Hybrid is close to being the perfect touring bike.
